Code as a first language – Felienne Hermans – KanDDDinsky 2017

video:

We know a lot about how kids learn their first language, by repeating sounds, and adding abstractions later. Can we view learning code through the same lens? How would it look like it we view code as a natural language? Can we apply educational models of learning? Can a piece of source code be seen as text?

In this talk, Felienne will take you through her research on how to teach programming to children, as well as her quest to make programming more accessible for everyone.
