Juggling 300 integrations while scaling to 10mil. Signals per day – Christian Folie & Daniel Weller

video:

This talk will share the journey of how a new team dove into a domain and scaled an application to process over 10.000.000 GPS Signals per day by integrating with 300 different systems.

Imagine you have to start a project with a new team and you have to work in an unfamiliar domain.
The team chooses a programming language – F# – in which they only have limited experience and they have to work with a platform – GCP – nobody in your team is familiar with.
In addition to these challenges, you have the goal to integrate with over 300 different GPS providers and fetch data from them to process more than 10.000.000 GPS Signals per day within two years, and still support consumers of your application along the way.
You probably think now that this is a textbook setup for failure.

In this talk, we will share the journey of this team and explain the approaches, decisions, and challenges they had to face and the development process they established to reach their goals.
We will learn about the team's understanding of the domain and the position of them within the client's company and how they evolved their model and application over more than three years.

This talk will cover some methods of Domain-Driven-Design, share some insight on the problem domain, and cover the solution in coarse terms.
